Hydrogen Water Car talks about hydrogen fuel cell powered cars, and focuses on why people say it is a car that runs on water.

Hydrogen Water Car - The Future Today

Gas prices are soaring. People are scrambling to make ends meet. In this difficult economy, can you really fuel your car with water? The future is here today because water is the new replacement fuel for your vehicle.

Does Your Car Really Run on Water?

Although your car is said to run on water, hydrogen gas actually does the job. Basically speaking, hydrogen gas is separated from the water to fuel your car. Two different ways convert the chemical action of the hydrogen in water to mechanical energy to move your vehicle. The two conversion methods are called combustion and fuel cell conversion.

Combustion Hydrogen Water Fuel

Combustion works the same way as traditional vehicles fueled by gasoline. Hydrogen is burned in the engine to fuel the vehicle. The hydrogen gases and water molecules are separated. The hydrogen gas is forced into the combustion chamber and burned to create energy. The first internal combustion engine run by hydrogen was created in 1807 by Francois Isaac de Rivaz. In 1970, the patent was issued to modify internal combustion engines so gasoline powered engines could run on hydrogen water fuel.

Fuel Cell Conversion Hydrogen Water Fuel

With fuel cell conversion, the hydrogen is reacted with oxygen. This reaction creates water and electricity. The electricity produced is used to power electric traction motors. Fuel cells are still expensive to produce and quite fragile. Mineral content in the water and freezing conditions often inhibit the function of fuel cell conversion. Research is being done to improve the function of fuel cell conversion. William Mitchell of Nuvera Fuel Cells indicates, “A fuel cell is like a battery because it makes electricity, but unlike a battery you don't charge it up. As long as you give it oxygen from the air and hydrogen from a bottle, it creates electricity.”

What Type of Vehicles Run on Hydrogen?

All types of vehicles can run on hydrogen, which is available in a variety of forms. Trains, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, golf carts, cargo bikes, wheelchairs, airplanes, ships, submarines, high speed automobiles and rockets are all fueled with hydrogen. In fact, hydrogen is used by NASA to launch space shuttles into space. The highest speed reached on land by a hydrogen race car to date is 207.2 MPH. The first manned airplane run on hydrogen was tested by Boeing in February, 2008.

Hydrogen Water Car Conversion

Your current vehicle can be converted to use hydrogen water fuel. It is believed all cars in the near future will have an HHO fuel cell. Owners can purchase HHO car kits to build the fuel cells for conversion to hydrogen water power. Both mechanics and individuals are converting gas-guzzling vehicles to hydrogen water cars. Often the vehicle owners can drive for up to a month without refilling their fuel tank, realizing significant savings.

IRS Incentives To Go Green

Performing a hydrogen water car conversion may equal more money from the Internal Revenue Service. The government spends significant money on pollution and medical care so they want you to reduce pollution by converting to hydrogen fuel. Since 2005, the IRS has offered incentives to people converting to hydrogen powered vehicles. Your deduction for converting a car is up to $2,000. For trucks, vans and buses, you can get a deduction of $5,000 to $50,000. Receipts must be provided to prove the cost for installing the HHO conversion kit.

Benefits of A Hydrogen Water Car

What are the basic benefits you reap from converting to hydrogen fuel? Consider these alluring incentives:

__ a hefty IRS tax deduction;
__ increased gas mileage of up to 50 percent;
__ a savings of up to hundreds of dollars on gas monthly;
__ a quieter engine;
__ boosted engine performance;
__ reduced car maintenance costs;
__ prolonged engine life; and
__ cleaner exhaust emissions for a cleaner world.

You can even reverse the conversion process if you decide you no longer want a hydrogen water car, which is highly unlikely. Converting your car should not void your current vehicle warranty.

Hydrogen Fuel At The Pump

To make a hydrogen water car convenient for everyone, refueling stations are opening throughout the country. Over 60 stations currently exist in California. Massachusetts opened its first refueling station in August, 2008. According to Cheryl McQueary, deputy administrator for the Research and Innovation Technology Administration at the Department of Transportation, “The fuel is clean, it's reliable, it's safe and it's environmentally sound so that's what makes it cool. It's very quiet, it's very smooth. I'm hoping to get behind the wheel of one of them.”

Patrick Serfass of the National Hydrogen Association comments, “The trick is to get the fueling stations and the vehicles in the same states at the same time.” More refueling stations are opening every month to meet the increased demand for hydrogen fuel.

Hydrogen Fuel Is Easy To Produce

Potential users question whether another fuel shortage will occur if they switch to a hydrogen water car. Producing hydrogen fuel is simple so there's no fear. Brad Bradshaw, president of the Massachusetts Hydrogen Coalition, indicated, “You can produce hydrogen from landfills, from wastewater treatment plants.” In Denmark, wind is being used to produce hydrogen.

A hydrogen water car is the wave of the future today. Whether you choose to purchase a hydrogen water car or convert your current vehicle, you are saving money and the environment.

Do Hydrogen Cars Work - Do hydrogen cars really work? The answer is definitely “yes”. Because fossil fuels are destined to run out eventually, hydrogen was introduced as a fuel source in a combustion engine rather than gasoline. There are also innovators using hydrogen to create electric energy to power up a vehicle instead of using gas. As research and development continues, hydrogen cars promise to be the green wave of the future...

First Hydrogen Car - Hydrogen, the first element on the periodic table and the most abundant element in the universe, has powered the fusion reactions of stars for billions of years. On Earth, attempts to use it as a fuel date back over 200 years, when Swiss inventor Francois Isaac de Rivaz used both hydrogen and oxygen gas to power the first internal combustion engine in 1806. While Rivaz’s vehicle was commercially unsuccessful, additional attempts were made to harness hydrogen as a fuel over the next 150 years, meeting with limited success. In 1966 the world’s first hydrogen Car, the 1966 GM Electrovan, was built, and the age of hydrogen cars as we know them was born...
